yes, a yearly physical normally requires at least 3 vials of blood to be drawn. problem is, and as a nurse she knew this... as soon as you draw blood it starts to coagulate. thicken. even from the syringe the blood will come into contact with oxygen, that plus the change in temperature after the blood leaves the body 'starts the clock' so to speak. that's why we use vacutainers (vials that have a vacuum sealed inside them) with anti-coagulants inside and they're refrigerated immediately.

the 'fresh blood' in the guy's house HAD TO BE DRAWN from him as close as possible to the time of his 'supposed death'; so she could 'squirt' it out of the syringe/vial/container she stored it in. if the blood thickened and aged too much before she squirted it around the room, it would have looked like the guy was injured some time before Kogoro et. al. showed up. also, since she is a nurse she would know NOT to use vacutainers to hold the blood in. the anti-coagulants in the vials would be EASILY found by the forensics lab testing the statue and blood.

okay, one thing I don't get is WHY would she NOT kill him in the morning??? It would save her a trip and the risk of the guy waking up and ruining the whole plan!

Just get the same thing he has at home, use that, then drop it off at the house later. Heck! Just buy whtever standard tricket and use it instead. Nobody is gonna be able to tell he didn't own it prior, he lived alone!

I thought the whole point of the blood was to fake the time of death, but it was just for the alibi? Why bother with the alibi?? especially when you would endanger the workers of the brewery youre so desperate to protect. Why even risk contacting the police? Let the case remain a kidnapping for as long as possible instead of having it upgraded to a murder. The colder the trail the less the police would be able to do and the easier to get away.. You actually didn't even need to use the statue thingy to kill him.. just smack him with less force and use a rock, that would draw even less police suspicion, it'd be a kidnappig gone wrong or smth..

Don't even get me started on the whole "I wanted to be remembered for protecting the sake" bs.. Bad press would NOT help the image. The Japanese are superstitious, they would associate the product with misfortune and avoid it.

All this to say this filler was NOT well thought out. I hope they were on a time crunch or just out of inspiration.. I don't wanna think someone deliberately wrote a case so bad unless they were out of options

Okay I was a little bit off, I thought she was the one doing the checkup. Not that it matters much as it was still done to get blood without arousing suspicion.
I also thought she killed him in the morning and the time of death was inaccurate enough to hide that. I never thought she would have such freedom to kill him after the investigation started.
